About Interleaved 2 of 5 (ITF)

Interleaved 2 of 5 encodes digits in pairs by interleaving five bars and five spaces, one of which is wide. It is very space-efficient and common on distribution cartons.

What a valid Interleaved 2 of 5 (ITF) looks like

  • Digits only, and the total digit count must be even. If you have an odd count, left-pad with a zero.
  • A mod-10 check digit is recommended - readers often require it to avoid partial-scan errors.
  • Quiet zone: at least 10 module widths each side. Bearer bars are strongly recommended.
