About EAN-13
EAN-13 is the 13-digit European Article Number used worldwide on retail products. The first 2-3 digits identify the GS1 country prefix, the next 4-5 the company, the remainder the item, and the final digit is a mod-10 checksum.
Valid input
- Exactly 13 digits, numeric only.
- The first 2-3 digits are the GS1 country prefix and must be assigned by GS1. Do not invent numbers for real products.
- The 13th digit is a mod-10 checksum computed from the preceding 12. A wrong check digit will not scan.
- Leave a quiet zone of at least 7 modules on the left and 7 on the right.
- At 100% scale the symbol is 37.29 mm wide by 25.93 mm tall. Do not shrink below 80% or stretch beyond 200%.
