About Royal Mail Mailmark

REFERENCE

Royal Mail Mailmark is a 2D Data Matrix symbol that replaced the earlier 4-state barcode for business mail, carrying posting and routing data in a compact square.

What a valid Royal Mail Mailmark looks like

  • Structured Royal Mail payload: Mailmark barcode indicator, version, class, supply chain ID, item ID, destination postcode, return-to-sender postcode, and data-matrix code content.
  • All fields are fixed-width - populate unused fields with the Mailmark-specified filler characters.
  • Must use Royal Mail-issued supply chain and item IDs.
