About GS1 Data Matrix
GS1 Data Matrix encodes GS1 Application Identifiers in a Data Matrix symbol. It is mandatory for healthcare product traceability in many jurisdictions.
Valid input
- Same AI structure as GS1-128, encoded in a Data Matrix.
- A leading FNC1 is mandatory and tells scanners this is GS1 data. The encoder emits it automatically.
- Use ECC 200 (default). Older ECC levels are not valid for GS1.
- Minimum module size for healthcare is typically 0.254 mm with a 1-module quiet zone.
